The coatings industry gets ready for Middle East Coatings Show 2019

24 Feb 2019

The Middle East Coatings Show 2019 is preparing to open its doors once again to welcome the international coatings industry to the Dubai World Trade Centre. The only dedicated coatings event in the Middle East region, the show offers exhibitors and visitors alike the chance to meet and do business in this prosperous region. This year, the show is also launching the Middle East Speciality Chemicals Zone, which will be located in Hall 4. This is a natural extension of the coatings industry for many companies and will offer a new avenue for business opportunities for visitors.

Exhibitor profile
More than 200 companies will exhibit this year, including Saudi International Petrochemical (Sipchem), Tasnee, Cristal, Lomon Billions, Buhler, Petrochem Middle East, Nouryon and Ystral, amongst others. The Middle East Coatings Show offers suppliers of raw materials and equipment manufacturers the chance to meet with multiple business owners and decision makers, all under one roof and within a three day period. Companies are coming from all over the Middle East and further afield, including Saudi Arabia, Germany, India, China, Belgium, Switzerland, the UK, Spain, the USA and more. The international mix of exhibitors will ensure visitors have the widest range of equipment and materials on offer, with many companies displaying new products and innovations on their stands.

The show will also host a series of free to attend Business Presentations, located in Hall 5, where companies, such as Wacker, Imerys, Nouryon and Reda Chemicals will present their latest developments and findings to the crowd. A full list of the companies presenting over the first two days of the show can be found on the website: www.coatings-group.com/mecs/dubai/visting/business-solutions.

Success in the Middle East market
As the United Arab Emirates prepares for Expo 2020 and Qatar readies itself for the World Cup, the Middle East region is expanding with exciting construction projects. A growth in population has also resulted in a strong demand for coatings and raw materials, with a forecasted 6.16% growth until 2022.

The Middle East Coatings Show 2018 welcomed more than 5500 attendees over the three days, with exhibitors commenting on the high calibre of visitors.

Patrick Van Waes, Kraton, which develops, manufactures and markets bio-based chemicals and speciality polymers and is a leading global producer of styrenic block copolymers (SBC) and pine chemicals, said: “Overall, the meetings we had were of good value and good content. On one hand, this is always the perfect place for networking but you need more than networking, you need business – and we got that.

“The show is definitely relevant as we meet with customers who are not able to travel easily out of their region. Reason number two is that you see many more people in the time of the show than you otherwise would. Here, you can meet a lot of decision makers in one day, which is important. MECS has its relevance. The group of customers and contacts you have here is such that you won’t have in other places.”

Echoing this sentiment, Rahim Jamal of Al-Shihab noted: “We have been here since 2004, and every year we have seen the quality of the visitors to the show improve. The level of managers, senior managers and so forth; we are impressed. I would never miss it, because it has helped us.”
This year’s Middle East Coatings Show is free to attend and will take place in the Dubai World Trade Centre, February 26-28. For more information and to register to attend the event, please visit:www.coatings-group.com/mecs/dubai/homepage
