Bags top accolade under “Best ESG Initiative to Improve to Access to Clean Water award category”

Mumbai, 15th December 2021: India’s leading manufacturer of surfactants and specialty care ingredients, Galaxy Surfactants has been awarded the ESG Summit & Awards 2021 under the category of Best ESG Initiative to Improve to Access to Clean Water. The Summit was organized by Transformance Forums with the purpose to help ESG stakeholders develop their ESG vision, strategy, and reporting.  

Galaxy Surfactants was honoured with this award for its continuous contribution in improving Access to Clean Water. Recently, as a part of its initiative ‘Samajeek Uthaan’ developed with the objective of serving the community, Galaxy Surfactants de-silted percolation tanks in eight villages of Nanded District in Maharashtra. Through this project, it aims to help the villages get year-long access to clean water.

On receiving the award, Mr K Natarajan, COO of Galaxy Surfactants said, “With a focus on valuing every drop of water, we have implemented water stewardship across all our manufacturing units and functions. With stringent targets for water reduction, we have ensured that our manufacturing units in India are Zero Liquid Discharge Unit since May 2017. Further, Galaxy has cumulatively harvested 250 million litres of water through multiple projects. Our ambition is not just to become water positive, and water secure, but also to bring in a greater positive change in the environment for the larger good of society.”

The summit served as a game-changing meet for all ESG Stakeholders, CFOs, Sustainability Leaders, CMOs, CEOs, General Counsels and Chief Auditors to develop a shared vision, strategy, and approach for their respective ESG practices. Amidst 200 + participants, Galaxy Surfactants, being one of the leading specialty chemicals firms in the country that enables sustainable, organic and environment-friendly chemical formulations and blends, received this honour.

Conceptualised and curated by Transformance Forums, the ESG Summit and Awards, 2021 was graced by the presence of 25 + Speakers from the Industry. Ms Pragnya Ram, Group Executive President, Group Head, Aditya Birla Group and Mr Nagesh Pinge, Independent Director, Automobile Corporation of Goa Limited were the Jury Members for the Award.
