DaltoPIR® technology offers more stability and consistency during processing and low friability of foam panels

Mumbai, India, September 28, 2018: Huntsman, the global leader in MDI-based polyurethanes, today launched its DaltoPIR® technology, a PIR-based insulation technology, designed to improve the production and performance of foam panels in India. Huntsman’s DaltoPIR® technology has the potential to transform the production of fire retardant, polyisocyanurate (PIR) sandwich panels.

Huntsman’s DaltoPIR® technology offers a different viscosity build up in rising foam, which enables more stable, more consistent processing. This in turn can help panel producers achieve better panel planarity and quicker line speeds. Furthermore, the resulting foam has very low friability, which contributes positively to the long-term properties of the panels. The product fared well in the company’s stringent durability tests, where foam panels were subjected to long temperature cycles and their aesthetic properties were constantly monitored.

Commenting on the same, John Hobdell, Director- PU Technology, Huntsman, said “At Huntsman, innovation is deeply ingrained into everything we do. The launch of our new DaltoPIR® technology is further testament to our commitment towards offering increased production efficiency and greater output to our buyers. With this technology, we hope to transform the way fire retardant, polyisocyanurate (PIR) panels are produced in the country.”

The product was launched at the PU Tech Innovation Day 2018 held in Mumbai in the presence of Mr. John Hobdell, Director of PU Technology,Huntsman. Mr. Hobdell also presented a conference paper titled 'Step Change Technology for PIR Production' at the event, in which he outlined the benefits and applications of the pioneering technology.

The new technology has been fully integrated into an innovative product portfolio, containing several foam systems for different lamination conditions and fire-resistance standards.
