Kids Zone science event for families at ACS national meeting in Orlando

WASHINGTON, March 18, 2019 — The American Chemical Society (ACS) is hosting a fun Kids Zone community event on Saturday, March 30, noon to 3 p.m., to celebrate the International Year of the Periodic Table (#IYPT2019). The event will take place at the Orlando Science Center, 777 E. Princeton St., and will feature giveaway bags that include a periodic table poster and an IYPT periodic table wallet card. The event is included with general admission to the Orlando Science Center.  

This special event is part of the ACS Spring 2019 National Meeting & Exposition that will take place March 31–April 4 in Orlando, Florida. The conference expects to welcome 14,000 attendees from around the world.

Kids will explore the wonders of chemistry with easy, hands-on activities including:
  • Iron for Breakfast
  • Colorful Lather Printing
  • Magic Nuudles
  • Chemistry Makes Scents
  • Molecules in Motion
  • Build a Battery
  • Tear it Up

Families also are invited to a science café event, “TV Forensics versus Real Science,” on Tuesday, April 2, 7 p.m., at Barnes & Noble Plaza Venezia, 7900 W. Sand Lake Rd., Orlando. Learn to dust for fingerprints when you join us for this interactive talk hosted by the ACS Orlando Local Section.
